If it only turns over good a few times that could be part of the problem. You could pull a couple good batteries out of something else to throw in it, hook them in series and it will zip right over. Then if it doesn't start, you know you have other problems.

Today's fuel will dry out in the fuel system if it was open. Had to have the pump for a Ferd backhoe gone through because of it.

Just don't run it long with 24 volts to the system. But it will run without batteries, just pop the ground cable.

Try pumping the hand pump while you crank it. Toss a set of filters on it, it could have algae as well.

Well we figured it out. With all the cranking the hydraulic clutch was pumped up to pressure so we were able to pull it. Started pulling it and in about 15' it fired up. Then it went wild.
Started running away, the thottle did nothing, was running way over the governer. Probably 4000 rpm or more. Luckily we had the tube from the turbo to the intake manifold and there happened to be a 4 x4 in the rock box so I could shut it down with that otherwise there would have been some major engine work.
