The Sherman was an add-on gearbox between the original trans and the imput to the rearend, easy to install at the dealer or at home, not all 9n,2n,or 8n's had them,it was a option.

The Sherman was an add-on gearbox between the clutch and the original transmission.

The auxiliary trans replaces the input shaft which runs from the flywheel to the transmission.
