MF 35 hydraulic/pto

Just bought a MF 35. For the past many years the 3 pt arms have been removed an a front mounted snow plow has been run off a set of auxliary remotes of the top cover below the seat. Now there is no hydraulic fluid coming out of the remotes, the 3 pt arms are stuck in the up position, and no pto. This is a single stage clutch and the pto turns freely by hand when in both neutral and engine pto Are these all related, and where would I start checking first?

Is there a selector valve underneath the seat? If so, they normally port pressure from the pump to either a contol valve or to the hitch system.

Check the oil level in the transmission, the dipstick is on the right side round cover below the seat on the side. If there is no dipstick then remove the bottom bolt in the round cover and see if any oil runs out, allow any to run until it stops. If it needs any oil adding to it, fill it at the side of the gear change levers with 10W/30 Multi-grade oil. Check that the Draft Control Lever(the square one) is right at the top of the Quadrant otherwise there won't be any oil pressure, place both levers at the top and then you should have pressure so just operate the spool Valves to operate the implement. The oil should be circulating until you operate the lever on the spool valve.
The 3 point being stuck at the top has no bearing on the problem and it will be just lack of use. When you say there is no PTO running, are you sure that you have the PTO Lever lifted to "Engine PTO" not "Ground PTO" but the Pump should be running no matter where the PTO Lever is, unlike the earlier tractors. The PTO drives off the Back of the Pump. If the tractor drives in forward and reverse you should be getting power to the Pump to drive the PTO.

Thanks for your reply. My concern is that there is an internal problem with one of the grears that powers the hydraulic pump and then to the pto. Is this a possiblily? I plan on taking the inspection covers off and see if I can see the output shaft of the pump turning. If not, what would be my next step. If it does I will remove the top cover for more inspections. Does this make sense?

If you removed the Top Cover you could see if it was driving but that is all,you would be better to split the tractor first as last if you think that it isn't driving the Pump as that is what will need to be done anyway, so no use making a big job any bigger. You are better leaving the hydraulics alone unless there is no other option.Unusual for no drive to Pump, this could be something at the front end of the transmission.
