I'm fixing to rebuild a ford 8N engine. Have heard that there is a problem with the new style rear main seals that you get with the new rebuild kits. What is the best seal to use?
thanks Howard |

You may want to ask this question on the N board. I've not been privy to any discussions about the quailty of the seal, so not sure what seal they're talking about.
However, I personally would favor a neopreme seal with a lip for general main seal service. There likely is a 2 piece Felpro or Victor for this application. |

You can use a neoprene seal on the front, but AFIK
the only rear seal is the rope seal you get with the
kit. If you go up to the N board you will get a lot
of suggestions on how to install. I've rebuild two
engines with that seal and had no problems. |
