On the PTO handle of my 671, may I remove the roll
pin and handle without removing cable from
transmission in order to remove the hood?

Like Steve wi said, yes you can, just don't try turning the handle to get the pin out, there is a little ball in the detent slot that you don't want to wreck.

Make sure you back up the punch when driving the roll pin. The peace the T handle fits on can brake off, requiring a new cable/handle assembly. BTDT. Figured out a way to use a short peace of roll pin and a vicegripe to PUSH the roll pin out.
