I have the 45 "B" my Dad bought new. Of all the papers they saved I never found anything on this Tractor. He bought it from Eisners in Kelloggsville Ohio-- Northeast corner of Ohio Does anyone have any info on prices back then? He also bought a #52 plow on steel and the 2 row mtd. cultivator. Any records on prices for those items? Is there anywhere these prices are available? Thanks for the help. I read so much info on this site I thought someone might have this info.

Can't help with 1945, but here is what I found in the depreciation list in my dad's farm account book for 1952.

John Deere 'B', on steel, hand crank - bought new in 1943 for $818.

John Deere No. 52 Plow, 2-12", bought new in about 1947 - $242. This was bought after we converted to the gasoline engine, had rubber tires put on and added 5th and 6th gears.

John Deere two-row cultivator for the 1943 'B', bought new in 1943 - $131.

I hope this helps.

Stan (formerly from Indiana)

Maybe someone has a 1945 factory price list and get you a better answer, but I have one for 1951. So we are dealing apples and oranges somewhat since my book has the late styled B and it lists for 2057.00 with Powr-Trol, remote cylinder and Roll-o-Matic. Those options were not available in 1945 so deducting these makes the price 1800.50 and maybe in 1945 prices were 10 to 15 percent lower as a guess.
In 1951 the No. 44 clutch lift plow with 12 inch bottoms was priced at 255.25 and that did not include the rubber tires, no price given for steel wheels. The 2 row cultivator price was 222.00 with spring trip shanks in front and spring teeth on the rear scratchers.

My J. R. Hobbs book on styled letter models lists the early styled model B's on rubber having a base price of 805 dollars...58 more bucks if it had power lift.Yours being a later one in the series built after WWII probably was on the "high side" of that price listing.

Thanks for all the response. I think the Dukester and Stan are close. The B had electric start power lift and rubber tires. The plow and cultivator prices seem to match with the prices given. I was thinking about 12 or 1300 for the package when purchased. They saved pictures from 1947, but no paperwork. Thanks all----

jd50,

Somebody had a copy of an original invoice from a 45 B at one of the Expo's. I took a picture of it because I also have a 45.
