I have a 560D that needs an engine, spun rod/ruined crank. I would prefer a gas engine and have access to a 615 combine. I know the combine engine can be swapped to a gas tractor easy enough, but what about swapping into a diesel? Flywheel, clutch, stater, oil filters? Will things liek the oil pan and front mount swap over? What am I missing? |

In my opinion, if your not pressed for time I would just begin the project, and tackle obstacles as they arrive. |

Nothing from the D282 diesel will fit on the C263 gasser. AFAIK, they are completely different engines.
You will need front and rear engine covers to begin with. Flywheel, clutch and pressure plate.
I am pretty sure the front and rear covers from a 706 or 756 will work, if you can't find another 560.
Frame rails might be different too. I know they did that on the 06 and 56 series tractors... Thicker rear cover and shorter frame rails on the diesel. |

I know where there is a good running engine out of a 560 gas that was pulled to make a puller. It is in Elkton KY. I bought a different engine from him.

You could just use the crankshaft from the C263 to replace the one in the D282. The combine engine should be new enough that the crankshaft in it was used in both gas and diesel engines.
As far as swapping the engines all the rear parts from the diesel could be used with the gasoline engine. The diesel flywheel will work as long as you also continue to use the diesel starter. The front plate will have to come from another gasoline tractor engine as the combine plate is different because of the hydraulic pump drive on those machines. The front cover will have to be from either a 460 or 560 gas tractor. The front cover attaches to the top side of the frame where the later tractors attached to the inside of the frame. The frame rails are the same for both gas and diesel on the 560. Throttle linkage and air cleaner tubing are also different between gas and diesel. |
