Need to pull flywheel to resurface. Do I need to mark this so it is remounted in the same orientation? What is the best method for removal block of wood/hammer or a puller. Thanks in advance for words of wisdom.........

Doesn't it have an alignment dowel?
Last flywheel I removed, I just removed the bolts and gave the flywheel a few wiggles. It came right off. |

When i took my M flywheel off I put a long 2x4 (one i used was about 3 feet long so I could hold onto it) against the side of the flywheel and gave it a couple of raps with a 3 pound hammer making sure to hit the wood and not the flywheel. I did that on both sides/top and bottom and it finally wiggled off. Be carefull, it weights a ton, you dont want to drop it on your toes. I would also suggest checking the ring gear for wear. May want to change it out while you have it all apart. good luck ~Anthony |

There should be a dowel. As stated it is heavy. They usually come right off. A puller for something that size would cost a small fortune. |

Not much to it. I was able to remove by hand and yes it is heavy. The ring gear looks like new. Machine shop says they will have it ready Friday so looks like I will actually start the reassembly Saturday. Finally! |

IIRC,some flywheels are drilled 'off center',so it can only go on one way.The ringgear doesnt need to be removed to surface the flywheel.Since its apart, now is a good time to renew,,rotate,or flip... |
