Not sure what i have here, the plate on the side says
Massey Harris model 44-gr serial num 1133 but it has
a wide front axial and is a 6 cylinder engine so it
it does not seem to fit under any of the categories
that i can find on the site. Any ideas anyone?

The serial numbers I have shows it to be a 1947.If it is a true 44-6 the serial number should be stamped 44-6gr1133.The engine should be a 226 cntinental. The quickest way to tell if it is a continental engine is that the distributor is on the top of the engine. If your serial number is stamped 44gr1133 it is a regular 44 that some one has put the six cylinder engine in.If there is any thing else you need feel free to email me.The books I have on massey tractors have all the specs etc.

the Model number is across the top of the plate and is just stamped 44-gr the serial number is stamped on the bottom of the oval plate and is stamped 1133 as you said it is probably a 44-gr with a six put in it. The distributor is mounted up on the top of the engine just in front of the last spark plug. So for ordering engine parts i should order for ?? The Plate also states it was distributed by Massey Harris ltd Toronto Ontario, Canada. One thing i noticed was all the gr's i could find had a row cropper style front axle while this one has the wide front, was that a option?

That tag could have been replaced, the serial number should be stamped on top of the transmission castimg.

Massey harris offered four different front end configurations for there tractors. They are single front wheel, high arch wide front, two wheel close together row crop and standard straight axle. The engine is a continental engine. It should have a tag on the engine saying the size.It should be the 226 cubic inch model. If you can not find a tag on the engine and you are taking the engine apart for repair it should have a 3-5/16 bore.
