I had new seats installed and the head milled about .010. I am going to set the valve height. The JD manual says new heads have .024-.038 height from head to valve FACE. Don't they mean valve head?? With a used valve I have .070 from head surface to top of valve head. What is the max height a person can have? I want it to start nice and I don't like to grind away the new seats.
Thanks for your knowledge. |

I have no idea why they worded it like that. When Deere started having cold-starting and smoking problems when the 40 series of tractors came out -Deere Co. told us to do all the heads with the intakes .030" and the exhausts .050" deep (distance of head of valve to machined surface of head). |
