Does anyone have a good lead on a Starter Switch Assembly for a 1948 TE 20?
Our old one still works but is pretty stiff and beat up. We have had one on order for ever now and just recieved an email saying it will be atleast another month before we get it. We called AGCO today and they can get them (back ordered as well) but it was something like $90.

We would really like to have a new unit instead of used if at all possible. Anybody have any ideas or thoughts? Thanks for the help.

By the way... tomorrow is sand blast day! Pics to follow for sure...

Sparex number--S42538--$32. Out of stock. It's same as AGCO. They own Sparex.

Me? I would take the part down to the local NAPA auto parts store and walk in and say "let"s see your catalog. Then go to looking and they might have something stashed somewhere. . .Or not.

If you are meaning the one on top of the Clutch Housing, they are available from a Sparex Dealer as part number S42538. Usually your local tractor dealer will be able to get Sparex parts. I have checked on this site (YT Forum) and they are not showing any at this time, normally they do have them.....John(UK)..fergusontractors@hotmail.com

You can take it apart and usually fix it. That is what I did to mine. I ordered one from the dealer and when it came it was the same type that they use on an 8N. He reordered it and his book showed the style I needed but when it came it was an 8N type swithch. I just drilled out the rivets and fixed mine.

Yes, I was talking about the switch on top of the clutch housing. We did call all of the local Agco dealers and they (and Sparex) are all back ordered and no one seems to have an idea of when they will be available. I did email "the depot" (thanks chuck 41) and ask them how to get my hands on one of theirs. Guess we will wait and see!

Your local Agco dealer should be able to order from them. I"ve gotten several parts from the depot over the last few years. If your dealer tells you they can"t order from them...find another dealer because that is what the depot is set up for, is for any dealer to be able to get NOS parts, instead of some dealers hoarding up parts for themselves.
