Power steering is weak on a diesel MF 285. Put Gauge on pressure line - reads 0. Cleaned intake screen, tightened relief valve. Still 0 pressure, looking thru fill port, oil is turbulent when wheel is turned. Oil seems to heat quickly. I suspect bad/ leaking relief valve. Is this common failure? Do I replace relief valve or whole pump assembly?? |

Just replace the relief valve. It is there to protect the pump. Sounds like all that is happening is the relief valve is staying open. That is why it is so hot. Pushing a lot of oil through a small opening back to tank. Replace your oil as well. Oil breaks down under high heat situations. |
