pto and transmission

I was wondering when change the oil in my trans and rear axle and add the oil for the pro there is a drain plug where do add the one quart for the Pto or does it add from the trans not sure? Also when I change my hydro oil on the bottom of the pump is a drain plug is there a fill spot on top or does it pull oil from the reservior?

The hydraulic fuid is in the front compartment next to the pump. It has drain plug and is filled through the dipstick hole.

The Transmission, rear end, and pto share the same fuild. Fill both fill plugs to the top on the threads. The rear compartment also goes to the PTO. Don't forget to change the final drive fluid while your at it. The final drive pans must be removed to drain.

I should say that the transmission and rear end compartments are separated by a bearing. The oils do mix but they have to seep through the bearing. That's why you have to fill both compartments. Both fill plugs have big square heads on the on the left side. Use hydraulic oil for the hrdraulics and 80-90 gear oil for the trans, rear end, and final drives.

Thanks for all the help I'm trying to find 20 wt hydro oil no luck so far I understand napa could possibly have it thanks chris

The SAE 20 that the manual calls for is the spec for a non-detergent motor oil for summer use in the hydraulic pump. I have mixed SAE 10 & 30 non-detergent for summer use, or a #86 hydraulic oil (as I recall)

For winter, I use SAE 10 non-detergent or #32 hydraulic in my WD.

You do not want #20 hydraulic; probably doesn't exist.

Any tractor hydraulic fluid will work. I use John Deere hyd oil in mine.

Have a 51 WD and we used 20w-20 in the engine and in the hyd. system. ever since it was new.

That drain plug in front off the pto or is it somewhere else like where the hydro lines go to the pump looks like there is a drain plug over there

That drain plug in front of the PTO is a magnetic plug to drain the hydraulic oil reservoir. To completely drain the system of hydraulic oil, you remove the second plug on the bottom of the hydraulic pump control.
