farmall f-12 cooling fan

I have a 1934 farmall f-12. I restored it last year including a complete engine rebuild. It is used occasionally on the farm a well as parades and such. Last weekend my dad and I were driving tractors in a christmas parade and the farmall was running for about two hours straight during the parade. It has the greasable bearing on the fan and I know that it always slings a little bit of grease out. During the parade, it slung a lot of grease out. I had to really clean it off from the front of the engine and under the hood. I know that they make sealed bearing fans but I have not found one that looks totally original. My question is does anybody have a sealed bearing fan that looks original or does mine just have a seal that is bad or something causing the grease to flow out.

I don"t know about your f-12, but the nine I have do not have a grease fitting on the fan. Instead there is a slotted set screw that you take out and pour in oil. at the back of the shaft should be a cork or felt washer/seal to keep it in. It doesn"t take much oil to keep it well lubed.

I'll call fordson house tomorrow, mine has a zerk for grease on it. I used high temp synthetic grease sparingly but it still flows out. I think it may be the seal you are talking about because it seems to be getting worse the more I run it.

It should have a small amount of oil in it, not pumped full of grease. You finally ran it long enough for the grease to warm up and push out.
