Hi guys new to the site. I've got an ih 56 planter 4 row 38 I'm
having trouble moving the units in to get to narrow row any
advice or tricks? I'm also looking for a monitor for it? Is there a
such thing? Or Is there one I could put on easily?

You may not be able to get down to 30". Cannot remember for sure, but I think the axle mounts get in the way. I think the later models had ones you can unbolt and flip around to make room. If you need some seed hoppers, or some other parts, I do have some from one I scrapped.

I saw one with a monitor. This area used to have dozens of them. You probably have a mix of dried grease and dirt on the hex shaft holding the drive gears from moving. There was more than one style of frame. You need the style that allows you to flip the wheel assemblies to narrow the tread to go to narrow rows.I don't think the style with fixed wheels will narrow up.

Not a clue but the late 56 was made at the same time as the 400 series so they are probably similar.Or, you could lift while moving at each end and see if there is seed on the ground like we did before monitors.
