I am painting a cub for my brother, not a true restoration, but still a pretty nice job. I painted the main frame before the new wiring harness arrived. I was thinking of hanging the harness from a nail and painting it before I installed it. It would have been painted new, right?

Correct.
I'm going to be in the same boat as you come spring. When I paint I'm not necessarily going to try to paint the wiring harness, but I'm also not going to go to great lengths to keep paint OFF the wiring harness. |

Myself i would NOT paint it as the thinners in the paint are hard on the insulation and will make it brittle after time. |

Yes they were painted. A coat of paint will probably outlast you as some still look good after 60pluss ys. It isnt the paint that makes the harness bad its setting out side yr round as those you see that have been shedded the harness is still there and ok. |

I wouldnt waste time on it now. Painting will make the harness a little stiffer, not much, but I personally think they look better not painted. |

Installing the harness is the last step in my "restorations". I am not about to paint it. I did have to put one harness in black plastic tubing because it looked like a zebra, I should have sent it back. |
