I don't mind YT to have my IP but to post it in public for all to have access to is like posting my Social Security number. Why do you do that and could you please quit? |

Greg,
We don't really want anonymity here. That is not the type of site we are. Most of the community stands personally behind the things they say as a real person. That is different than most forums and social network sites, where people keep anonymity (or think they do, they don't actually). Trolls, spammers and scammers often try to use methods of hiding that information, and we block those methods.
An IP isn't actually any sort of privacy data on top of that. It may or may not point back to an individual, but often, it's only use to the forum users is to expose those who are taking advantage of others by obfuscating who they are. This is often caught by individuals here because of the IP. The IP will continue to be shown, it is part of the agreement you make when you press the submit button. If you don't agree with it, please don't press that button. That goes for all of the aspects of site policy, advertising, political, religious or other contentious postings, including personal attacks and rude behavior.
Thanks,
Chris |

You forgot to mention that the IP address isn't always correct. Some have somehow got a way to disguise it. I've had mine used when I wasn't even around.
