The 3pt valve housing that sits on top of the rockshaft housing is no longer working, it is very hard to move the lever and it is also leaking oil out the gasket on the lower edge. It gets used very little as this is my loader tractor. I am capable of most any repair but I have never touched one of these. Do I need to be aware of anything special when I take it apart?
On a side note, I finally finished corn last week. I put 89 acres through my 3300 gasser and 40 acres of beans through the 3300 diesel. I would have used the diesel more but broke another final drive, that was a one week breakdown and thousand bucks in expense. Few other small breakdowns on the gasser but it paid for itself already. Gas bill way too high.

I would suggest you remove the right rock shaft cover and remove the cable at the back and see if the rockshaft will operate by the lever there. I have worked oil into the cable from each end and gottem the cable freed up on my 3020 gas.
On your 3300 combine. We bought a new one in 1974 paid $14000 for combine 234 corn head and a 10' grain head.It was a gasser with fuel at .30 a
gal cost was not to bad. Ours came with 18.4 x 28 tires. It was a muddy winter and we broke 3 final drives all in warranty and also wore out the tranny. I bought an extra bullgear new for less than $90 to have a spare while the dealer was getting one from deere. The dealer said that Deere had put the wrong bullgear in relation to the size of the tires. Seems like they did something to strenthen the bull gear and we never broke a fourth one. I am curious if you have large tires on it.

I agree with Hilltopper that if your tractor serial number is <123,000 that the RS control cable is rusty/dirty causing it to bind.

My 3020 is a side console and has no cable. Rods activate the lever. I have larger tires on the 3000 diesel from a 4400. The first final drive broke in a wierd way, the hub split in a circle around the bolt holes, so the wheel never fell off but the the axle hub actually spun inside the wheel bolt circle. Second one from Keiters lasted one week in corn and came apart at the retaining nut on the inside of the shaft. That happened on the black top road. For the third one I took parts from each of the broken ones and was able to repair a drve. Same problem again on this one, the nut worked loose on the inside and out came the axle, again it broke on the highway. Local towing outfit now knows how to haul combines on a boom. I am now afraid to drive the diesel. There seems to be a big difference in gear ratios between the gasser and the diesel, the gasser will run circles around the diesel.

OK since I now know it's a 3020 SN >123,000 I'll regroup. Check the big nut(parts key #15 or 24) for tightness as they have a history of loosening over time and affecting 3pt operation plus leaking oil. The following parts are for R&R of valve body if required to correct oil leak.
R40896 GASKET ADD 6.84 USD
2ea R27166 PACKING O RING ADD 1.22 USD 2.44 USD

My Dads 3300 did the same thing many years ago on the road, not fun blocking up ad fixing.Sorry you had to pay so much for parts as here in the midwest $1000 will buy a fairly good 3300 combine(gas). Most seem to be going to scrape or a combine derby to be destroyed.Good machines in there day except for the counter shaft under the grain tank.I helped rebuild Dads twice and one or two on neighbors as well.

One thing that will break final drives is a grain tank extender. Adds too much weight .

Looks like I have parts 13 and 15 for the control lever. If 13 is brass colored then that is what I have. Parts 13 and 15 were frozen together so could not move the lever. I put heat to the big nut and got the lever moving. I quess now I should take it apart and see if I hurt the O rings. Otherwise it looks OK but the bottom gasket was no good. Thanks.

I look at the western combines on the internet and say, GEE that is cheap. If only shipping was not so expensive I could have a newer combine.
