I want to build a 460 puller and I want to build a wide front end from a front end running gear. I havent bought the tractor yet. Is it easier to start with a 460 that has a factory wide front, or a narrow front? |

Ive built several custom bolsters with light wide fronts and rack and pinion steering. Its easier and lighter to just scrap the whole thing |

You can go either way. I prefer wide fronts over trikes because its easier to get rid of that heavy piece of cast iron called the upper bolster. I did fabricate a narrow front once with a manual gear box, a front spindle from a 1/2 ton 10 bolt chevy front, the axle stub and drive puck, and the hub. It was a chore and swore id never do that again. |

Correct. The bolster is the same whether its wide or narrow so it wouldnt matter. |
