Im looking at a set of duals for my 4640 what other tractors had comparable axles to the 4640. I know that the bigger soundgard tractors should be the same. But are there any newer ones that would work?

4630 4640 4555 4560 4650 4850 4755 4760 4955 and 4960 8640 8650 all had 4 inch axles and dual hubs from any of those should work on your 4640
|

The 4620 and 4630 I used to have only had 3 5/8 inch axles,my 4840 did have the 4".

Jim, I'm sure that hub casting does fit all those tractors. To be sure which tractors have the same axle size you could run a part number of the 4640 dual hub axle wedges. That would tell you what tractors the mentioned hubs would fit. Hope this helps. Mike

I doubt seriously that all the tractors that showed up on my post will accommodate the R54160 hubs especially the lower HP tractors such as the 4040/4050. The only way to know is with some additional research that I haven't carried out. I did one brief research and the hub R54160 isn't listed for a 4040.
But the part number R54160 is listed in all the parts catalogs that I listed.

I assume you are talking 10 bolt duals the hubs are the same but wedges are different.JD hubs are in 1/8s [4450 3/5/8][ 4650 3/7/8 ]also listed in mms.The dual hubs on our newer tractor are made different but wedges still interchange.The same wedges are used on drive[inside] wheels.Usually salvage yards will trade especially if yours are the most popular 3/5/8s.From JD the wedges are over $200 a piece and it takes four so best to buy correct as they sell for around $750 complete.

Most 4630s were 3 5/8 axles not the same as 4640. Better measure before you buy.
