i recently got a 1946 2n that has been changed to 12v. with a alternator.it will not charge i had the alternator checked and it is good . i can put my meter on the battery while running and it shows nothing at all shut it off then it will show 12 volts.what is taking all the juice when it is running.i can unwire the alternator and it will read 12v hook the wires back up and nothing maybe 2 or 3 volts at the most anyone know whats going on thanks

I would need to know what type of alternator and how you have it wired to help you.
Do you have diagram of how it is wired? |

the alternator has a 2 wire plug and 1 wire that connects to the bolt type.i am out of time right now gotta hit the sack have to get up early i wil get back on here later sometime this week just not sure when thanks for your help.

If you are using a digital meter that may be a problem. There is too much electrical interference to use anything but an analogue meter when these engines are running. |
