I am looking for information on proper Decals ( 2 legged or 4 legged leaping Deere) and the proper placement on the tractor. My tractor is a 4020 Row Crop Diesel Synro-Range with serial number in the 1964 range.

I tried a search but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only decals used on the new generation John Deeres would be the "4020" and "Diesel". These decals were located on the rear engine side covers. One on each side. The only other identification is the hood side emblems. There are no 2 legged or 4 legged leaping deer decals anywhere on any of the new generation tractors.

Thanks for the response. I have seen all sorts of different markings and would like to be sure I get mine right as Deere made it.

Thanks again

Not sure of year of production...so this may not be applicable. So make sure you verify with someone before doing anything.

Our 4020 - in her original work clothes.

1. It has a leaping "deere" on what looks like the rear of the seat bracket.

2. 4020 Diesel near door.

3. I also see a decal inside the cab on side panel of where gauge cluster and steering is - but cannot read it. (Sorry, pics not real clear).

Thanks SweetFeet That decal on the back of the seat is or should I say whats left of it is on mine too. If it wasn't put there from the Factory then it must be a dealer installed option Laughing Can you tell if its the 2 or 4 legged Deere ?

Sorry but every 3020 and 4020 that left the factory had a Leaping Deere decal on the back of the seat.We have several original tractors with this decal. All hyd. on the dash tractors used the four legged Deere, sometime in the side console production(after 1969) the two legged deere appeared on the seat back.

Nice original 4020,the square intake manifold and the hyd. controls on the dash make it a 1968 model. We have one the same year and my dad bought a new one in 1968.The current owner of my dad's is in poor health and I may soon have the chance to buy it back.

Did some more research on the seat back decal(dug thru my file cabinets of sales brochures). The first two legged decal appeared on a 4320 in a brochure dated 11/70.All of the 1969 tractors still used the four legged decal even the 4520's.

I will try to remember to run out and look at it tonight. Maybe I can get a better pic of it... and the decal inside the cab too.

tomstractors,
Thanks. Was thinking I would have to serial number it, just out of curiosity. I did not know the year of this or of our old Case...husband and I are both more interested in our old JD and Farmalls.

This old girl and the DC Case were our work horses when my husband still farmed.

Thanks for everyone's input. Laughing From what I am reading I think my best will be the "4020 Diesel" on the rear engine panels and the 4 legged leaping Deere on the back of the seat.

Thanks again and please stand by for more 4020 questions as I go deeper into my restoration project.
