I need to fix an oil leak on my Pump coming from shaft that the handle to turn it on/off is attached. I havent been able to source part# AF 2135R which is the oil seal. I am hesitant to pull the seal until I locate another. Perhaps someone knows a quick fix? |

Have you tried John Deere for that part ? and for some reason I think it is an o-ring ? Not positive due to CRS |

I tried John Deere and all parts places I could locate on the net. Part is obsolete! It is a rubber oil seal.
Some would call it an o-ring - parts book says oil seal. |

Did you call the Deere dealer to see if that number subs to another ? or have them run it on the parts locator some dealers may still have them.
I do understand too that many dealers aren't worth a darn now too. May be worth a call to several dealers. Likely may get several different answers ? |

If it's an o-ring take it to a hydraulic place. I have good luck with them coming up with replacement o-rings and the are usually pretty reasonable, like less than a $1. |

It's not an o-ring, it's a garter seal. There will be a cross in either the CR or National catalog, available at NAPA, but you'll need to measure the id or shaft size, and the bore size. The thickness you can estimate using the depth feature on a dial caliper. I'd guess it's something like a 1/2" x 3/4" x 1/4" thick. It only holds back gravity crankcase oil in the timing cover, but it would have been a bit easier to discern all of this if you had mentioned that it was a diesel. The gas did use an o-ring, but not the AF 2135 R, oil seal. |
