|

Follow up post regarding heaters on the 4500.
Battery heater works well.
Hydro fluid heater works great.
Radiator hose heater just OK.
Plugged in btw 2-3 hrs before I start it works well.
Hydro oil in nose reservoir nice and hot.
When
I let it warm up about 15 minutes and then I slowly work loader. Let it idle another 5 minutes and then slowly work hoe except for swing cylinders.
Eliminates pump squawking due to cold, thick fluid. It does groan under load until all fluid gets warmed up. But overall major improvement.
Closed to 3 hrs plugged in starts OK.
I am sure it would be better with a "real" battery.
Pete

Explain to me once more the oil tank heater. Sounds like I need one.

Jeff,
I bought the 500 watt model.
Gets real hot real fast.
Took front grill off the 4500 and placed it
on the underside of the hydro reserve.
After 2-3 hrs the whole nose is warm.
Still need to let tractor idle to warm up
and run hydro"s slow to let all that ice cold fluid in the cylinders mix in the hot fluid in the nose.
Hate when the hydro pump squawks.

Forecast is for snow later today.
Plugged in the heaters and battery charger at 7am.
Plan is to get out there by 9am to get to work.
