I have an old stihl 045 saw I would like to get running. It needs points and a condenser that is not available through Stihl anymore. Where could I get these obsolete parts from ? Is there anywhere to get aftermarket parts for these old saws ? Thanks

If points and condenser are all you need, I would check with a small engine parts house for a universal solid state conversion which will replace both points and condenser. www.psep.biz list one for about $14.00. They give the dimensions so you can tell if it will fit in the space available.

Start looking on Ebay and go the "arboristsite dot com". Those guys can find anything saw related. Go to the chainsaw forum.

ShadetreeRet is right , get a transistorized ignition module. I used a brand called Nova that I got from my local stihl dealer, price was $27..
