I am installing a 12v71 Detroit in a 2-150. The oil pan is very deep on the 12v & the axle wishbone is hitting the pan. (all 2 w.d. drive,no F.W.A.) I have been told that a 2-180 axle is built heavier, has no wishbone & will bolt up to the 2-150 frame side rails. Is all of this info accurate ? Also will the 2-150 steering motor work on the 2-180 steering cylinder?? Thank you |

i dont know about the axles but i have retrofitted an IH tractor with a case front axle and had no trouble with the steering motor and cylinder. If the cylinder has a larger displacement it just steers a little slower. its been working for many years, this is not a complete answer to your question but i hope it helps. |

The White 2-150 was really just a MM G-1355 with different sheet metal. I don't know how compatible the front axle would be to swap. If you had a 2-155 it may be a different story. You could look at the parts breakdowns on agcopartsbooks.com to compare them.
I'm with the other guys, I would love to see a picture. Also on the MM forum someone posted a picture of a G-1355 that had a Detroit 6-71 in it. That tractor had some channel added to its frame and I would have to look at how they mounted the front axle. |
