Are there timing marks for the govenor/mag drive on a 1929 JD D. The mag drive uses two bolts that would allow any drive angle to the magneto. I cleaned both the driven and drive gear and cant find anything that looks like a timing mark.

No timimg marks on a D gov. There is a timing mark on the flywheel, and the pto cover at 3 o'clock. Loosen the 2 bolts on the gov drive to allow your mag to trip at the 3 o'clock position on the flywheel.
