They where an alright combine but not the top of the market for sure. They had some issues. The biggest was where the motor set buried down behind the cab. They would catch on fire real easy. It seems the chaff and dirt would collect around the motor worse than some other brands. Local guy had one and if he tried to unload on the go it would throw the unloading auger belt off when you shut it off while running the engine up at speed. He always had to bring the engine down to an idle to disengage the unloading auger or it would throw the belt off. We tried to adjust it different ways and even made a guide for it but it would still do it. Local dealer told him it was the nature of them. I am not sure about that but that was my only dealings with one. |

A farmer about 5 miles from me bought a very nice looking 7300 about two years ago. A couple of months ago I noticed he was combining corn with an IH 1460. Then I noticed his 7300 was standing by the road with it's engine area all burned. I haven't had a chance to ask him what happened. So your comment that these catch fire easily must be true. Al |

after looking at the pics, it must be a side-hill machine. |

casenut: I do not think they made them in a sidehill model. The one in the picture is just a regular level land machine. |

I remember there being quite a few more of the reds around here than green ones but closest dealer by far was Oliver. Funny thing was every one of them green or red had a color mismatch head or some major part of the head just like that one. I can remember very few that both heads and the machine were all one color. When they tried to sell one to dad he told them he would buy when they decided which color they were going to be, LOL. |
