D15 dip stick?

In front of the transmission dip stick a few inches is another dip stick. This one appears to have oil in it. It has a 3" handle & about 1" across.I cant find anything in my books about this dip stick. I see pictures of it, but no info. What is this dip stick for & what fluid? Sorry for asking dumb questions. All city slicker here.

Power director clutch reservoir. Should be a nut, with a breather on top, dipstick should have stamped on it, check with rams extended. Fill to line, with universal Hyd fluid. On later model D-15's, the Hyd pump compartment and PD compartment were united, and one dipstick is redundant. The other dipstick is near the belt pulley or plate, RS of tractor, about 2 feet in front of the PD.

Diydave, thanks. only thing I saw on the dip stick is the "full" line, And sorry for my lack of knowledge what do you mean "rams extended" the front bucket extended? And there is this other dipstick on the right side next to a round plate w/6 bolts. On that dip stick it says " full for tractor w/out hydraulic system"

I think you might be confusing the poor guy. I have noticed on here some confusion between the series of the "D" line, as it isn't consistent between models.
If my memory is correct, the D17 IV is the only one where the hyd. reservoir was combined with the power director, and the hyd. fill/dipstick was deleted. Therefore being the only model which might indicate anything about cylinders on the power director dipstick- and I just can't remember that detail.
The latest D15 is the series II, and that is set up the same as the earlier D15, D14, and D17's prior to series IV.
AC did offer a factory optional hyd. system on the D15II similar to the one on the D17IV. But I believe it had a separate reservoir. The only place I've ever seen one is in the book!

Sorry for any confusion, I goofed, the side dipstick is the one with the full rams extended on the dipstick. Your tractor might not have a hydraulic pump, or the dipstick there might have come off of another tractor. Rams extended, means with the maximum amount of fluid pumped out of the system, or cylinders extended. That means loader and 3 point both up position. If you have an industrial version, some had a front mounted pump, and the loader frame was the reservoir. AC made many versions of the D series.

So back to my original question. What about the dip stick in front of the trans dip stick?
