I don"t remember where I heard it (possibly on here???), but I know someone said not to put a rear tiller on the 82 series cub cadets because it will trash out the rear aluminum housings. I sure would like to put mine on my 782 though. It"s not like I"m tilling 40 acres a year. Just my little garden and maybe the in-laws once in the spring. Its a pretty nice 782 though, I"d hate to crack a housing. I considered swapping out the alum rear with a cast one from an old parts 1650 I have. Would it be worth the effort? Or would I be ok with the alum one for the little bit I do. BTW, buying another old cub is NOT AN OPTION!! (wifey made that point very clear, I already got 5 |

Yeah, I've seen that also. But is the vibration from the tiller worse than the weight? |

I have had Cub Cadets 782s for 30 years and never have had trouble with the rear ends. I have a tiller on one all the time and never take it off. I have one with a snow blower and that one stays on all the time. The only people that have ever had rear end problems are pullers.

Brian Dan:
The 782 had two types of rear ends in them. From the IH design (S/N: 665001 to 719999) was a Cast Iron rear end. From the CCC/MTD Design (S/N 720000 & Up) was an Aluminum Rear end.
The IH tillers were designed only for the Cast Iron rear ends. |
