My neigbor has an 8n.He can pull it to start and it runs ok--but will not start with the starter--it floods out. Replaced the carb same thing??? It set for about a year without running.He is at a loss for a sulation. Can anybody help. |

If the starter is working properly and not doing the job, but pulling does, I would suggest a dry/wet compression test. May be a tired engine.

So it sat a year or more. Did it run well before it sat??? If yes then good chance it has sticking rings and maybe sticking valves. Try this. Put about a 1/4 cup ATF in each cylinder and let it sit 24 hours. Then carefully try to spin it over using short fast taps on the starter. If it hyd locks pull the plugs out and then spin it over to clear the atf out. Then try to start it. Compression from stick rings can be very low and cause that problem. Now if he parked it because it did not run well he may have a wore out engine |
