So, when you decide to paint your tractor (in my case a to20). Do you stick to factory color, or do you paint it what ever you please?

I am a purist. There is information on the FENA website for correct color.

I've been thinking about that one for quite some time. My reasons for re-doing my tea 20 are sentimental. It was my grandfather's tractor. Problem is that the tin was a bright red, almost fusha, and the cast was a robin's egg blue. I was leaning towards a Massey Ferguson red, and grey.

I did the wife"s Fergy with the red sheet matal and gray chassis. I did it to make her happy. Gray is for the purist and anyone with asolutely no interest in selling the machine in the future. Red sells. Gray sit"s. The gray is getting redone with Rustoleum bronze I believe.
Been too long since I looked at the can and it"s too cold to go out and look for it now.
The red has a metallic glint to it also. Some day it might get done...

I think it all depends on your intended use. For mine, when I do get around to painting it I will go with a color as close to original as I can but without fretting too much if it's a little off. My tractors are for work, not for show although I do want them to look good.
If you're building it just for showing then get as close as you can to original. Again it's a matter of preference..........don't ask Tony though! Razz

Over here the incorrect colours ruin the resale value! but for some people.... they like to make a statement with their fergies
The industrial yellow and grey looks good
The pink/gold represents some sort of cancer awareness campaign.
But for me nothing looks better than keeping it factory finish (with maybe a better quality paint and a better shine!)
Sam

I am normally a original person but I am not a fan of the factory all grey color scheme. it's just a personal choice. I do not want it to look like a red belly though either. I like the Massey 35 red and grey and was considering going with that. Previous owners have painted this tractor 2 different shades of grey and a blue. At the moment it is a chipped scaling version of all these colors. (lots of character though).

I painted mine Massey grey.It is a shade darker and I like it. I offset it with A blue seatcover .Plus I bought the paint on close out for five bucks a gallon.

Sam, I have a 1951 TED like yours fitted with a mid mounted Ferguson mower When I painted it 5 years ago I found the grey paint very boreing to apply after painting IH red and Fordson blue. Just joking. MJ

first time I ever saw a green belly TO-35 was at Wengers in Myerstown, PA. If I remember correctly, it has 12 hours on it total. Now, that is one sharp fergie.
