|

Hello and Happy Holidays. This is my first question in the forum. My brother was lucky enough to purchase a 1800. The serial number we wrote off the tag is 119-131-890. Now if we did this right he has a 1962 model. It is a 265 gas. Just need to know if I read the number right. Thanks for any help that will come. Again Happy Holidays. |

It is a 1962 A series tractor. I am wondering about the transmission code number. Is this a rowcrop or a wheatland tractor? We sold an 1800 that was probably made in that lot (less than 100 difference in serial numbers) and it had a 892 transmission code. |

Thanks for your reply. It is a row crop with a wide front. It is all orignal. The 890 code means what? Do not have a book for that. It needs very little tlc to be looking like new. My brother got very lucky. |

890 is the code for the gear train. I don't have my book handy but I think the number was 892 not 890. Engine number should be stamped by the generator also why not post the spec number. |

Will get the block number this week. Brother and I playing phone tag. Again thank you. Using my full name, seems not to like my nickname of 64 years. |

If indeed your tractor has 890 as the last three digits in the serial number, "8" means it is in the 1800 family and "90" is the power train code indicating the gear combination. "90" is the gear combination for industrial tractors. This combinatiuon has higher travel speeds. &bnsp; With 18.4x34" tires it should do 18+ MPH at high idle.
Your tractor was produced with a non pressure lubricated transmission. There was a product improvement package to install the pressure lubrication system. If your tractor has the lube package it will have a filter on a bracket bolted to the under side of the LH platform, factory lube transissions had the filter screwed into the side of the trans housing. |

My thanks to BA Star and J. It is for sure 890 code on the tag. It also has a filter where BA Star said there might be one. Will work on engine code stamp for some information on the engine. To BA Star you have a very greatly decorated lawn. Again thanks for the help. |
