Having heck trying to seat bead on a new rear tire. Tire dealer mounted around a year ago. Inside bead didn't seat and didn't notice. Am replacing axle seals and would like to seat bead. Air up to 35+ lbs, sprayed with soapy water, oil, tire cleaner, and beat on with large hammer. Sitting in sun all day, still won't seat. Any tips? If it has not seated in a year then the only way it will is if you remove the tire and tube then clean the rim up and remove any and all rough areas of the rim. As for any oil based thing DO NOT use on rubber it makes it soft and can make it fail a whole lot faster. There is also a stuff called Murphy's soap made just for working with tires that is slicker then snot and it works well to help seat a tire

Try dropping the pressure down to about 5# and drive it around. That's what they advised me to do at the tire store when they put 55lbs in it and it still would not seat. It worked very quickly. If it has gotten rusty as Old says that will interfere with it sliding.

Thanks guys, finally got her to seat. Took 7 1/2 hours of hard work. Glad my labor is cheap. MERRY CHRISTMAS
