Farmall 460 engine issues???

I'll get straight to my problem. My Farmall 460 idles fine, but when I put it into gear and drive for 300-500 yards (1/4 mile or so) or am working with the hydrolics (pushing snow) for only a little while the engine just dies. It smells of gas like its either getting too much or not enough (not sure which) I've pulled the fuel line and have a nice stream (not too fast, and not dripping slow). I've also used a carburetor cleaning kit and changed out everything it instructed. When the same problem was still present I then cleaned out the oil pan and pipes for the air cleaner. After that (problem still the same) I installed an additional fuel filter to make sure gas wasn't dirty. I have also replaced the choke cable and made new adjustments to the idle and inflow. I'm at a loss and looking for new ideas. It idles fine and can rev engine with no problems even after it dies. t its just after a short amount of use (in gear) when things go wrong. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

She's starving. Was that a small engine fuel filter? Make sure that fuel filter is meant for a gravity flow system and is rated to flow enough fuel for your tractor.

How hot of spark plugs are you using? If you are running D21 plugs in a 6 cylinder that is to hot unless they burn alot of oil. I dont think this is a gas problem. We have fixed many 6 cylinders with the same problem. It is usually a scored cylinder. The proper fix for this is an overhaul. I have been a mechanic for 25 years so I have seen this very often.

Yes the new fuel filter was the one that was suggested from the expert at our local international farm shop. The flow of gas was a constant stream that maintained its flow until all the gas had drained. I'll definitely check the plugs. Not sure the last time they were changed, but our mechanic at work mentioned something about them. I'm not too knowledgeable with engines, but I must admit it has been fun getting to know the things I've already learned. When the engine quits check the fire to your sparkplugs asap before the engine cools. Should see a hot blue spark. If you see a weak spark your coil may need replacing. Hal

Don't know about 460, can you open the load needle 1/2 turn to see if it improves??

check in the fuel tank I have had a dead bug float
and cover the fuel line while it is running . when
the engine stops the bug floats away and everything
works fine until the bug plugs the line again
