That engine--a 180 degree two cylinder kohler, right? Have you had problems with the magnets coming loose from the inside of the flywheel, thus disabling the charging system? Anybody else have this problem? I tried gluing them back on, but they won't stay glued. A new flywheel with magnets is almost 500 bucks--I am depressed! Any thoughts?

I got an awesome Christmas gift! I bought a 450 that was sitting inside for many years being sold as a 400 because someone had put 400 sheetmetal on it. It was putting water in the oil. As I expected it had a cracked head. It has the cornpicker mounts and the head lights turned up so it was no surprise to find a cracked head. I bought it because of the 281 engine and it has an M&W governor and factory power steering. When I took it apart it has a 4.25" bore and the crankshaft says M&W Gear on it. Merry Christmas!!!

No. Do have a lot of trees around the house that die occassionally. Tired of mowing over stumps.

I used a JD 212 with a mower on it for several years, same as yours except 2 hp less (the 12 or 14 indicate HP). Worked fine except not manuverable in tight quarters. I particularly like the lever on the right side which is sort of a poor man's hydrostat, allows variable speed in all gears.
