"shuttle"
shift work ???

Shuttle shift is a lever that has forward neutral and reverse on it so you shift it to go forward and back wards. Some have a clutch you push down some or more like shifting a automatic car/truck transmission. One like that will probably also have a 4 speed or such so that you have more speeds then just forward and back wards. As to what it is I can not say but maybe an industrial for of some sort

It is a Fordson Major. Run and I say run. Leave it alone.

If it's the same sherman shuttle used in the ford it will give you 4 forward and 4 reverse gears. Basically used with loaders and forklifts. For more info on the tractor you might want to put it in the fordson forum.
