General Schwarzkopf has passed away.
He was one of my heros in the early 90s.

Mr Too Shy to use his own Name,
This is twice I have had to correct you.
I said if my work situation did not improve I may no longer be able to afford the internet.
I made some tough choices and am still here.
Capish?
Now go have a glass of warm milk with a bit of honey in it then get to bed.
Your teddy bear actually thinks you're funny and misses you.
Be sure and say your prayers.

He was a patriot and an honorable man, thank God the USA had his services and NOT some Communist nation. May God bless and keep him and may he rest in peace

Thoughts of him always bring a warm smile to me. He came out to a very remote field location to visit my unit and left a lasting impression on everyone and we seemed to return the favor as he went away laughing and about as happy as anyone I've ever seen. Did you know that he was an amateur magician and not too bad at standup comedy? Anyway, we were in mud up to our ases and when he met my driver/radio operator (a Sp/4) they hit it off instantly. My driver had done standup comedy on late-late-late night television and the two of them were roaring at each others jokes. After he gave me his views on the Straits of Hormuz situation he went on to meet and "belly up" with probably 50 to 60 troops and then left. He was a two star then and most people had never heard of him. That would all change.

Just heard about it earlier, a true "strategist" that served his country well. I directly benefited from his Gulf War plan and have always wished for more like him. Petraeus wouldn't qualify to wash Schwarzkopf's underwear in my opinion. They don't make many like him anymore. Rest in peace my brother!

Whatever.

All service US members serve the people of the USA. Sure our CIC is the POTUS. That don't make him or any other service member a minion, that makes then a Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman or Coastie following orders to protect your right to write garbage like the quote above. Get a life.

Stormin Norman was a great commander who knew how to use his troops wisely.

And not just his troops.
"These red triangles..." while pointing to an easel and talking to the media, "those are red triangles."
Obviously pointing out false locations that were broadcast for all the bad guys to see.
Great man.
I was a red triangle then, but no where near the locations on that map!

Met him in Vietnam. HE was a true leader. He did not just lead from the back like most of the current generation does.

We had just gotten back from a mission. We had been out for over two weeks and only had taken a weeks worth of food. We had found some things to eat but we where pretty hungry. So as soon as we hit the base we went straight to the chow line/mess hall. While we where in line some 90 day wonder came over and started to chew us out for being in the mess hall all filthy dirty. Just as he was ordering us out of the mess hall Everyone in the mess hall came to attention. Schwarzkopf came in and chewed that second lieutenant out for giving us grief. HE screamed at that second lieutenant that he needed men like us a lot worse than he need him. Told us to go ahead and eat.

I believe he was a light Colonel then. He later checked with our company commander to make sure that the second lieutenant had not tried to cause us any more trouble.

He was a real class act. Nothing like the ones leading now.
More about General Schwarzkopf

He was a great military commander and strategist and a really decent straight forward man. Too bad in fact that we don't have people like him in our political spectrum....We could sure use them. Thank You for your service General.

A General who truly believed that you lead from out in front of the troops, not from somewhere way behind them.

RIP Stormin Norman, It saddens me to think how few leaders like you are left in our Military.
