I'm building a tandem axle trailer to transport my M to a few parades. I've heard I don't need a license it it's used for private hobby. Does anyone know the rules in Oregon. Also anyone know what an M weighs? I don't want to contact DOT if I don't have to. ( might not like what they tell me and will want to plead ignorance ) EGBinOR |

Oregon DMV says the only way you don't need plates is if trailer and load weight are under 1, 800 Lbs.. JD M weighs 2,600 Lbs. Plus your trailer weight which will put you over 1,800Lbs. . You will have to meet all Dot lights and brake specs. |

In New Hampshire, if the total weight is over 2,999 pounds, you need brakes on the trailer. I think that is federal law, but I am not positive. Also, here, if it is over 2,999, it must have an annual safety inspection. ( which very few people actually have done)
