I"m restoring an old Ferguson sickle mower that has still has the Detroit harvester tag on it. Does the tag have black around the letters like Ferguson and Dearborn tags? If not how is it supposed to look? Thanks for your help. |

I have no idea how....But in a case like yours, lots of 'poetic licence' is allowed. Its your machine(a show piece),do as YOU want.If you think it will look better with a black border(it will),Do it!Most 'restored' stuff at shows is way overkill. The manufacturers never put the details on their stuff when it left their factories . |

No...it's not a show piece although it is getting urethane paint, I am going to use it. I don't believe in trailer queens or museum pieces. I was just curious as to how it looked originally. I can't see any signs of black paint on the tag but it may be weathered and faded away. |

Mark is right. CASE owned Detroit Harvester and their tags are made the same. |

I don't think Case ever owned Detroit Harvestor, that it was an independent company but did contract with Case as well as Ferguson and Dearborn to make machinery for them. If Case owned them they would not have made the Ferguson and Dearborn equipment. |
