Yes, it is a good thing, we need the cold to kill bugs and plant disease.

I doubt that cold has much to do with the insect population. In the two years I spent in Puerto Rico the coldest temperature recorded was 67 degrees F. They have no more insects than we do. That was record breaking cold for them , it was below freezing at Miami Florida then.

Yep but heck most years New years day is cold but then maybe it has to do with what time of the year it is and the fact it isn't even the middle of winter yet so good chance it will get colder LOL

Last week it was raining on thursday , then snowing on Friday..I was at the Lake County landfill working on Caterpillar compactors in all that crap.. Took 2 of us 6 hours to remove enough heavy metal to get to the starter..You can see it from up top but you can't reach it.. After changing that starter, a spare solenoid and another MT 40 starter , it finally roared to a start..Then yesterday , up on the hill overlooking the landfill another 826 compactor sat with fuel supply problems.. I found a piece of crap in the supply line and got it running too.I'm getting too old for this crap..At least the other Cat 836-G compactors were up and running....

The warmer temperatures have helped accelerate the bark beetle infestation. We need a bunch of cold snowy winters.

Been too warm here in SE AZ. Can't afford to lose trees and the bark beetles are moving in. Lost 2 trees already. One really beautiful ash.

It has been so cold here in northern Co. the last few days that the shop cats won't even go outside for more than a few minutes and then it is back under the heat lamps to get warm. Sun is out this morning but it is still pretty cool.
