I can tell you on my 240-S MF I found various numbers cast in various places all over the tractor, but the serial number i finally found stamped into a flat-machined boss, on the engine block, right side, about 2" behind the alternator. Those numbers were stamped with steel dies. Looks like they were stamped by hand. Anyway, when I found those numbers, the perkins web site made sense, described all the details, when made, where, engine type, etc. |

Are you in the USA? Then shop local.
Sam told you last week the 'AD' on the engine ment direct injection right? It is an MF 245? so go on the left column on top,
marketplace
tractor parts
MF
245
overhaul kits
pick the kit with what you want for a direct injection 152 engine.
Some parts will start showing up in a couple days.
Cat now owns Perkins, and if they want to make it hard to research that engine, or even limit replacement parts, it is their option. |

Hello Robert,
152UA says that the engine was;
152...engine capacity in cubic inches
U...engine built in the UK
A...built by Perkins to MF specifications
D...Direct injection
Will need confirmation on the following
S...Higher spec engine than 135 one (MF 148)
L...Lip type rear crank seal fitted.

maybe i would like to know what all the letters mean. I just ask a question no need to get smart with me. If you do not like my questions do not respond, This forum is to help others as far as I see it and your response was of no help. I thank the rest of you for your response. |

Sorry, I don't understand. I presume you are offended by the response to your need for a overhaul kit? whether or not the 'need' to desypher the engine stampings? Please pardon me. I miss understood the question.
But if you gave us your credit card number instead, your kit would have showed up by now...
And because this forum with or without insulting losers like me wouldn't exist without American shoppers partonizing the yesterday's Tractors online store, the world wouldn't be able to take the mickey out of each other on here. |

Are you sure you don't have some Aussie in your genes, Tony?
I blame my fore-bears for my warped spin on things, as apparently we Aussies all descended from reject "convicts" originally. Better get your stuff together, come on over, and join the club, mate. |

I do buy parts from yt but without having the engine tore down, I need to know what the stampings stand for to make sure I have the right kit. rope or lip seal ect. |
