Have an 8n with 12 volt conversion, has not ran with conversion. Only get about 5volts to coil because of 2 separate resistors, take resistors out tractor fires up, do these need to be inline? What should voltage to coil be? |

Front or side distributor?

if this is a sidemount 12v coil.. it needs no resistors.
if this is a front mount 12v coil it needs the oe resistor.
if a front 6v coil, it needs the oe resistor, plus usually another resistor to reduce current to about 3-4a max primar current.

well.. you answered your own problem.
you are running too much serial resistance.
those front mount 2.5 ohm '12v' coils only need the oem resistor.. not the extra resistor as well. |
