While waiting for the radiator shop to repair the radiator, I went ahead and heated up the drag link and using a gear puller removed the drag link and power steering cylinder. (this method was correctly advised by many of you, thanks again)

What I've found is that the cylinder seal is leaking at the piston end. Not a problem, found a seal kit for it. But at the other end, it's leaking hyd. fluid somehow back through to the ball stud that attaches to the drag link. It appears at some point someone tried prying the drag link off and damaged the retaining cups inside. The whole thing appears really worn.

The cylinder is in good shape, nice and shiny, no rust or pits and I can make the rubber grommets I need. The valve itself appears to be in great condition with no cracks or wear that I can see. It has a Bendix casting mark on it. But from the valve to the drag link it looks like I need parts.

I called New Holland and they state that those parts are not available although he was trying to cross reference numbers that I had given him. I'm going to take my parts book to him and see if he can find something that way. But I recall being told here that parts, other than seals, are obsolete for these cylinders. So, I did find on another site where complete rebuilt cylinders are available...maybe, it depends on their stock. But at 770 bucks including the core charge seems a bit steep. You guys have way more experience with these tractors than I and have been a tremendous help to me so I'm asking What are my options and what would you reccomend. Sorry for the long post but wanted to give as much info as I could.

Thanks so much!

In the bbalert catalog they list power steering cylinders for some of the fords and they are only $4oo or less. Not sure if they have them for your tractor or not but maybe worth checking. This site also may have them

As I said I do not know if they have them but they do list the cylinders for the 601/801/ etc tractor so they may well have what you need also.

I did'nt see what I'm looking for there. I think the cyl just needs seals, but the main problem is the worn out linkage from the valve forward. I sent fordoc an email as he has some parts available. If that doesn't work out, I'll keep looking...Thanks for all of your help.

I have found that with CT (bbalert) a lot of times what you see on line is not all that they have or can get. If you call them tomorrow they may have what you need just not listed
