Hi Case fans. I am wondering what the correct work light or tail light is for my 1948 SC.
My tractor has a headlight mounted on the rear of the seat for a worklight. The brackets are original Case brackets.
I have a light I removed from a 51 D standard that is a combination worklight/tail light.
Which light is correct for a 48? the headlight or the combination light? |

If my memory serves me correctly, I don't think the rear red light was required by law here in SD until about '51. The '44 H Farmall my dad bought new in early '45 did not have the red rear light, but when he bought another '44 H in about 1952, the dealer had to install the rear work light with the little bullet shaped red light on top of it before it could leave the dealership. The "old" work light was in the tool box. I still have the tractor and both lights. I'd guess to be "correct", any tractor that came with lights prior to '51 or '52 in SD should not have a red light in the rear. This would probably apply to any other brand too, as I think red rear light may have been a nation-wide requirement about '51 or '52. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD) |
