i just bought am md farmall with what i believe to be a heisler overdrive in it.it has a shift fork on the transmission countershaft between the transmission and the hydraulic pump and a shaft about an inch long on the left side of transmission above the brake and clutch pedal shaft. is this what i think it is and where do you find any information on them? thank you |

Post some pics if you can... it could be a heisler or m&w 9 speed. There are a few repro manuals for the m&w from time to time on ebay. I have a m&w 9 speed for one of my mds just haven't had time to install it yet, they say that it really makes the tractor more versatile. Jim. |

I have never had either one but I think I have heard that the M&W had a shaft type linkage on the right side of the tractor and the Heisler had a cable type on the left.

Not sure but think you may be looking at a hiesler 9 speed shift shaft thats missing the shift lever. Heisler also made a hydraulic pump drive disconnect.
If the pictures work, first is a hiesler. Next is a model of M&W that also had a left side shift. Last is a M&W right side lever shift lever without the M&W shift rod to the lever. Look past the hydraulic valve to the lever in front of the brake pedals. M&W also used a push pull cable shift like used for pto operation on some trucks.

You are backwards the cable was on the right and the lever was on the left when sitting on the seat. |
