How big of a disc could it pull. 220hp w/ front wheel assist

22 ft krause I think that's what it was. Disking corn stalks good soil some sand about 3 inches deep just enough to roll the stalks over and smooth out the rows. Speed was around
4 mph. Used around 80-90 gal. In a 10-12 hr day.

That would depend upon the type of disc, how deep you intend to go with it, what you want to accomplish with it, and your soil conditions. Heavy soils with high clay content accompanied by wetter conditions, are obviously going to pull harder. Now, for my take on the type of disc. I have a friend who has both a 496 and a 596 models of Case-IH discs. I have a model 330 John Deere disc that replaced a model 230 disc. I believe John Deere also made a model 630 disc. In the case of the 496 Case-IH and the 230 John Deere, these are lighter duty discs and have smaller diameter blades. They cannot penetrate the soil as deep as the 596 Case-IH, or the 330 and 630 John Deere models. My 330 is 24 feet wide and if you want to put it in the ground, it will give a 220 hp tractor a good workout. If I don't need to put it in deep, my 4640 will pull it with ease. I had the blades sharpened on it, and since then, it seems that it will penetrate better, and definitely cut up cornstalks better.
