Anyone tried this hotshot oil additive in their diesel pickup engine oil yet? Ive got a 03 chevy duramax smoking a little bit at idle and thought about trying this stuff at next oil change. Im somewhat of a skeptic on this stuff. About the only additive i run is fuel conditioner with good results. |

03 was one of the years known for having injector issues. Hang onto your wallet when you get the estimate. |

that"s what Hotshot Secert is, an injector cleaner. I hear it advertised on the trucking program at night. Have never used it. Does sound like if I did have a diesel pickup I would give it a try before spending the big $$$$ to replace injector. |

hotshot secret is great for sticktation from oil coking on the injectors, alot of people use it on the 6.0 diesel ford trucks. I have never had any luck with cans of stuff to fix anything. |

After replacing the injectors on my 03 twice in only 125,000 miles, I can tell you it is more than likely the injectors. If you know of a good diesel shop, they can find out which one/ones are bad and replace only the bad one/ones, but you will still be replacing the rest sooner or later. About $4500.00 to replace them all. Bad thing is if you try to run it you can eventually do damage to the engine. |

My truck had that problem years ago, but it was under warranty. I can't imagine going through all the work to get to 1 injector and not doing them all. |

Add 1/2 oz per gallon of two stroke oil to the fuel. Big chance it will fix it. I manage a GM shop that does mor duramaxes that anyone in the state. Works all the time. |

Hot Shot is good stuff, get the promo special of the stiction eliminator, friction reducer and Diesel extreme. My truck was smoking and when I first start it in cold weather it would shudder for awhile then clear up. After adding Hot shot I started it up and let it idle for about 20 minutes and the engine was quieter so I took it for a 24 mile drive and withing 10 miles it stopped smoking, ran smoother and seem to have more power. I thought to myself there's no way it worked that fast, so the next morning it was in the low 30's and I went out and started it up and I was amazed how smooth it ran and no shuddering and best of all was not smoking. They guarantee 100% that with in 4000 miles it will clear up all stiction. Best $85 bucks I ever spent. |

mite wanna rethink all those additives ,????, just rebuilt my deer 4020s roosa master pump again 2 nd time in 10 yrs,, each time it was the governor comin apart,,,asked the pump guy if he thought the lucas and other fuel additivesi use occassionally could be breaking the rubber down ??? ,, he said maybe ,, it is hard to say ,, but credible thinkin , as a precaution he is using a different type of repair kit ,, because it shoulda lasted longer than 10 yrs of moderate use ....just thinkin ... |
