Found one of these today.
Is the transmission gear type?
Were these available w/o a cab?
If not what would be involved in reworking trans. and PTO linkage if you removed the cab?
Value?
It has some trans. problems.
Cab is off the tractor now but couldn't get much hard information about the trans.

Best use for it would be parts to fix one of the 4 cylinder models.

Yes it could be converted to an open station, just need to find a donor tractor.

All I have seen were a 12F/4R syncro transmission. Hear rumors of a few power/hydrashifts, but never saw one in the flesh.

The 1690s were available in both 12spd std. and 12spd Hydra Shift versions. We sold both, in equal proportions. My advise to you, ""Stay Away From A 1690""!!

To start, a tranny originally designed for a 65HP 1210 std./ 1212 hydra Shift 4 cylinder NA engine., put into a 6cyl hybrid engine crudly designed around the 4/55 with 2 cylinders added and two 3/55 heads bolted to a 6cyl block, with improvised engineering tactics. (cooling connection between the two heads was tooo small and halfarzed). Cooling issues galor. They equiped them with 38" rubber so they couldn't spin out, and the 6/55 made a lot of power. Need I say more??

Hi, Loren: I posted an O.T. question for you over on the Tractor Talk board. When you get a minute, maybe check it out and let me know.

Here is a web site for more information on these
tractors: www.dbtc.co.uk It is a David Brown
tractor site from the UK where these tractors are
more common. Like all machines some like and some
hate. If you could get it cheap enough it might
work for you.
