Dad is looking at a 135. It has 8500+ hours. Looks to be in good shape. Good tires. Cab. No rebuilds other than pto. Asking under seven thousand. Any thoughts on value. Also what engine does it have and any good, bad points of the tractor?

At least I am not aware of any engine rebuilds. I realize that it has a lot of hours. Supposedly runs good.

Has a 478 herculus, spendy to overhaul, but I would say the motor had to be overhauled, 5000 hrs is around the point on those, if it hasn't I would be very surprised and it will need it, there kinda spendy to overhaul. Don't know if its a true red stripe most were reprinted with red stripes, if its a series two or three it would be worth double what there asking if it has descent rubber, cab etc, and if it runs good. It's worth that price as long as it runs and drives. There a great tractor and don't seem to have many problems, be sure to check the 3 speed and clutch, but they should be fine. I'd say it wouldn't hurt you at that price even if you end up overhauling it.

we have a 135 as well and and oliver 2150, older version of a 135. like it said before its a hercules and are spendy to overhaul, its technically an industrial motor, but it is a very reliable tractor. based on our experience you may want to check your hydraulic lines, ours seems to always find some place to leak. also despite what the number says we get around 155 hp out of our 135 and 165 hp out of our 2150 so it has power.
